How to declare the stock exchange tax via MyMinfin

Required if you use IBKR, Trade Republic or any foreign broker that does not withhold TOB.

⚠ Fines: €50 per week of delay, maximum €2,600. Do not neglect this obligation.

How much stock exchange tax on VWCE? +
VWCE (Vanguard FTSE All-World Acc) is subject to 1.32% stock exchange tax with a cap of €4,000 per transaction. This applies on the buy AND the sell. Example: buying €20,000 of VWCE β†’ €264 TOB.
Is the stock exchange tax the same at all brokers? +
In principle yes, but discrepancies have been observed. Bolero applies 1.32% on VWCE, while some brokers previously applied 0.12% for the same fund. The correct rate for VWCE is 1.32%. Always verify your account statement. Source: Curvo.eu (May 2026).
Do you pay the stock exchange tax even if you make a loss? +
Yes. The TOB is a tax on transactions β€” you pay it on every buy and sell, regardless of the outcome. It is calculated on the transaction amount, not the gain.
Does the TOB apply to purchases on US stock exchanges? +
Yes. As a Belgian resident, you pay TOB on all your transactions, regardless of the exchange. If your foreign broker does not withhold it, you are personally responsible for declaring it. Source: FPS Finance, art. 120–126 CDTD.
